Dr Scott Ling's PhD Review Success: A Win for Endocrinology & Gynaecology

For the past 3 years Dr Ling has been working on his PhD. A PhD stands for ‘Doctor of Philosophy’, sometimes referred to as a ‘doctorate’. It is the highest level of degree that a student can achieve. Dr Ling has travelled more than half a dozen times, back and forth to Guangzhou from Melbourne in these 3 years. These trips involved studies, exams, research, and relevant coordination activities. Clinical work was also required with a mid term panel review. Dr Ling’s PhD research was an evaluation of treatment in Classical Chinese medicine. In particular, the treatment of endocrinology and gynaecologic conditions. This research drew upon Dr Ling's clinical practice experience over the last 15 years. It will further enhance his understanding and increase his effectiveness... particularly in the areas studied. On the 14 May 2017, Dr Ling passed his PhD panel interview. This review took place at the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese medicine.

Dr Ling’s PhD work is under the supervision of Professor Li Sai Mei. She is one of the most prominent Chinese medicine doctors in China. She has been awarded Best Chinese doctor in China and Best teacher in Chinese medicine of China. Professor Li Sai Mei is

  • Director of endocrinology department of The First affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese medicine
  • Director of Shang Han Lun department of First School of Clinical medicine of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese medicine
  • Specialised and famous in the treatment of endocrinological conditions eg Diabetes, Thyroid conditions, metabolic conditions, infertility, other complex conditions by using classical Chinese medicine

Dr Ling will take advantage of learning from Professor Li ... the benefit to him and his patients will be profound . He will strive to provide the best practice and clinical outcomes. Particularly, in the areas of endocrinology and gynaecology, using classical Chinese medicine. Dr Ling will receive his PhD degree near the end of June 2017, at his graduation ceremony... stay tuned for our next update!
